The convex circular lid has a short horizontal rim, slightly upturned at the edge, and a swivelling ring handle. In the centre of the lid is a rosette of twenty-five petals, encircled by a pinecone decoration which extends in eleven increasingly larger rings as far as the rim. The pattern appears in reverse on the inside. The centre of the rosette is a hemispherical knob, riveted to the lid, to which are soldered both ends of a vertical semicircular ring which holds the swivelling ring handle.
