Lid With Ring Handle

Silver

Height to top of ring handle 5.5 cm.
diameter 18 cm.
weight 248.2 gr.

Usak Museum

The hammered lid is circular, with a down turned edge. To the centre is soldered a rosette of twenty two petals, with a small spherical knob as its centre, surmounted Q a fixed ring handle. The rosette, sphere and ring handle are attached to each other by solder. The lid was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum in New York together with the silver platter no.61, and its diameter exactly matches a faint circular discoloration on the platter, suggesting that the lid may have been placed on the platter in the tomb.
