The agate, with pink, red and white bands, is worked into a basically barrel-shaped bead which is flat at the bottom. It is perforated lengthwise and suspended on gold wire which is treated in a similar way to those of nos. 92, 94 and 95. The thicker central part of the wire is twisted round to form a loop, the attenuated ends pass through the perforation and are spiralled six times around the loop.
A similarly-shaped agate bead from Sardis, dated to 575-540 BC, has a simpler gold wire suspension loop.
